Clinical cases

2025

I designed the Clinical Cases solution, collaborating with a young doctor to identify gaps in medical education and create an interactive learning experience where users make real clinical decisions and learn from each step.

New way of learning

Clinical vignettes are an interactive learning experience designed to simulate real medical decision-making. The project was created to offer doctors and medical students a more practical way to learn by treating virtual patients instead of passively reading or watching content.

The Problem

Most medical learning today happens through:

  • Conferences and lectures

  • Reading scientific articles

  • Static e-learning content

While valuable, these methods lack interactivity and realism. They do not reflect how doctors actually think and operate when facing real patients. There is little room to practice decision-making, mistakes, and clinical reasoning in a safe environment.

The Solution

We designed a system where the user is placed inside a realistic clinical scenario and must actively decide what to do next:

  • Which laboratory tests to request?

  • Which imaging to perform?

  • How to interpret results (labs, ECGs, scans, reports)?

  • How to choose treatment steps?

At every decision point:

  • The patient’s condition updates

  • New information is revealed

  • Learning happens immediately from the outcome

This makes each case feel like a real consultation instead of a lesson.

Learning Through Experience

Instead of memorizing facts, users learn by acting:

  • Each decision changes the course of the case

  • Outcomes are dynamic and realistic

  • Mistakes become learning moments

  • Medical reasoning is continuously trained

Cases can also scale across different patient profiles, meaning the same case can behave differently based on age, risk factors, and medical history, just like in real life.
