Product vision & strategy

2024

I owned the process of creating the first-ever product vision and product strategy for the company. This process transformed Mediately from focusing on disconnected, task-oriented projects into a purpose-driven organization guided by a North Star.

First steps

We laid the foundation for our product vision by identifying unmet market needs, analyzing competitors, gathering user insights through doctor interviews, aligning with leadership goals, and defining target audiences. This process revealed key user problems and opportunities, ensuring our vision addressed real challenges.

Brainstorming and Alignment

  • Company-Wide Brainstorming Sessions: I facilitated inclusive workshops with the entire company.

  • Problem Identification and Idea Generation: Together, with team leads, and leadership, we explored problems, generated ideas, and identified priority areas. We categorized the insights into key problem areas.

  • Collaborative Vision Crafting: I partnered with Product Managers to co-create the product vision. By making them active contributors, we ensured the vision was embraced across the company as a shared, actionable goal.

Product vision

The result was not just a vision, but a unified purpose that empowered every team to see how their work contributed to a greater impact.

Product vision created with PMs, CEO, and CPO.

Visiontypes

To bring the product vision to life, we created three Visiontypes—showcase the app’s future and guide the company’s strategy over the next 3–5 years.

1. Advanced Search for Drug Information:

A streamlined, intuitive search experience tailored to the specific needs of doctors.

2. Safe and Confident Prescribing: A solution offering not just warnings, but actionable guidance to help doctors prescribe safely and confidently.

3. AI Chat for Young Doctors: A supportive, AI-driven assistant that guides less experienced doctors when they’re unsure where to start, offering personalized answers and confidence.

Product strategy

With the vision and Visiontypes in place, we developed the strategy to make it a reality:

Shifting Mindsets: Transitioning from solution-oriented tasks to a problem-oriented approach, ensuring every decision addressed real user needs.

Building Focused Teams: Establishing dedicated product teams tasked with tackling key elements of the vision.

SWOT Analysis and Prioritization: To ensure alignment, we used SWOT analysis and an Impact–Effort matrix to identify and prioritize the most critical problem areas to address. This approach helped shift the focus from building features to solving real problems.
